I was wondering why people have to lie with in this community. I have seen some say they are things that they are not. Its simply lying and misleading clients. I think this should be stopped because it gives all investigators blackeyes.

Just had to rant a bit sorry all

Jason, I couldn't agree with you more.

It is very misleading to the public who I don't think understand that not everyone is being truthful in their abilities. Reading the bible or Demonology for Dummies (not a real book, I was disappoint that there was no such thing) does not make you a demonologist. It's funny imagining how some of these people would react if they actually came across a demon.

On the other hand, how can the good investigators/specialists present themselves to the public in such as way that they are viewed as experts and not fakes?

A true investigator can be professional in public by... Being knowledgeable, realistic, and have a portfolio handy that documents their scientific findings. Do not overstate your experiences, keep to the facts. Also... The "cardinal rule" of professionalism is to keep private any findings gathered on an investigation that you do not have closed as of yet! As a professional will maintain total confidentiality on data unless the persons involved give you expresss permission to use it on your website, or in public forums and meetings.

Who knows more about this than me?
I have to live with the fact that people like me are not trusted, and not believed, and according to some my kind are not allowed.

99% of the members of my group trust me and my abilities only because time and time again I have had to prove myself to them.
I do not "fake" anything that I am or my abilities.

You have to gain trust and respect and like Josh said you have to be knowledgeable, and show the scientific findings and stay away from personal feelings.

My abilities are not "scientific", but I am backed up by scientific methods which makes me somewhat more crediable. So am I a fake? Some still say yes and others will say no.

OK for all who are wondering I am the 1% of the group who has a problem with Mediums.

It's not that I dont beleive Shelia or that I dont beleive in her she is a great investigator/person

But I am a skeptic thats my job for the team to find every other possible reason for claims of activity and to try remain objective about what could be going on.

I have never seen anything on any of our investigations that leads me to anyother conclusion that there is nothing there (yes Jeff I have reacted to the odd shadow same as you but most times you and I have writen it off to traffic lights)

And when doing my review of Data we collect if I come up on something odd or I cant explain I want to go back to see if I cant recreate or find a reason for it in the first place.

I dont know about the rest of the team but I enjoy telling the clients what I think as far as the paranormal goes like there is nothing here clean your damn house and you will feel alot better about where you live.

True... R.J. is the definition of the 1% in Rock Island Paranormal, but we wouldn't be where we are if he didn't help contribute his skeptical nature to the group. We all make up a huge part of this... from the sensitives to the scientific reasoning skeptics. We all truly have a common goal, though, and that is to find answers.
